G-Bike, which operates the electric scooter sharing platform 'GCOOTER', has announced that it has hired the former head of TmaxAI's artificial intelligence research institute as its Chief Technical Officer (CTO) on the 00th.
The newly appointed CTO, Seunghwa Jung, completed his master's program at Pohang University of Science and Technology, and earned his doctorate from Ireland's prestigious Trinity College Dublin (TCD). He is especially noted for leading knowledge graph and network research and development at Bell Labs, and for solidifying his position as an expert in AI technology through his recent role as the head of Tmax's AI research institute, where he built a variety of technical operational environments.
With the appointment of Seunghwa Jung as CTO, G-Bike plans to further solidify its HWᆞSW foundation as the leading personal mobility sharing service provider. In fact, after developing and commercializing the first domestically produced electric scooter 'GCOOTER K' in 2020, the business model for the upcoming 'GCOOTER K2' will incorporate an intelligent AIoT with ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) and a black box function, aiming to advance core AI-based technologies.
Furthermore, G-Bike plans to enhance user convenience through improvements to the GCOOTER app. By building a globally available IoT communication server and cloud server, they anticipate creating an API structure advantageous for collaboration with various public transportation systems, thus enhancing the completeness of an integrated MaaS (Mobility as a Service) platform.
CTO Seunghwa Jung stated, "Personal mobility fused with AI is innovation" and expressed his aspiration to "showcase unbeatable technical capabilities in quality competition by combining the knowledge of ICT convergence services I've been researching and G-Bike’s own manufacturing capabilities."
CEO Jongsoo Yoon conveyed his expectations, "We look forward to the expertise and global experience of CTO Seunghwa Jung, who has left a significant mark in the IT industry, creating a good synergy effect in G-Bike." Meanwhile, G-Bike is accelerating its efforts to capture the global market, not only the domestic market, having established a corporation in the USA last month and expanding into Thailand as well.
