G-Bike, led by CEO Jong-su Yoon, which operates the electric scooter sharing platform 'Gcooter', announced on the 20th that it has completed the development of a universal battery that can be interchanged among personal mobility devices such as electric bicycles, electric scooters, and motorcycles.

As the domestic PM market expands and the demand for various short-distance transportation means increases, Gcooter is continuously developing eco-friendly transportation modes, not only electric scooters but also electric bicycles and electric motorcycles. In addition, it is contributing to the advancement of the battery, component, and materials industry by conducting related battery pack technology research, with the strategy of securing national competitiveness in the global PM market.

The universal battery developed by Gcooter for the first time in Korea, and the PMs that can be equipped with it, are products completed with domestic technology; the design was participated by specialized design teams for automotive and aircraft powertrains, made to the highest global standards in terms of safety and operational efficiency. Electric bicycles and scooters are equipped with one battery, while motorcycles have four.

The new battery pack is characterized by increasing efficiency compared to existing batteries, extending the cumulative driving distance by more than 30%, and reducing battery replacement costs to enhance operational efficiency. Moreover, it has been made using a non-electrocutable 48V voltage and is capable of comfortable and stable driving on slopes due to its high-output wheel torque.

An official from Gcooter stated that PM manufacturing and battery development are the first steps towards entering the Battery Sharing Service (BSS) business in the future.

Battery Sharing Service (BSS) is an infrastructure that allows users to easily replace discharged batteries with fully charged ones, contributing to the promotion and popularization of PMs. As the leading company in the industry, Gcooter aims to lead the initial market with advantages such as securing early demand and utilizing a directly operated management organization.
