Hello, I am Kkobi, the leader of the GCOO UX team. In the world of UX that's this accessible, what I'm going to talk to you about today is 'chatbots.' You might wonder, 'Why did the UX team create a chatbot?' Today, I'd like to share my personal answer to that question.


1. The first step in introducing chatbots, 'why?' what is the reason?

The GCOO team always considers user experience (UX) as top priority. That's why we started with this question. 'How can we provide users with a more profound, personalized experience?' In search of the answer, we decided to adopt chatbots as a method to get closer to our users.

Chatbots go beyond the role of merely conveying information; they interact with users and solve various curiosities that arise in their daily lives. Chatbots become a bridge for communication with users, and in that process, we come to understand the users' needs more finely. Based on this understanding, we can provide better services to users. Thus, chatbots have become an important tool in enhancing UX by fostering closer communication with users.


2. The reason for choosing chatbots, 'why did we choose ChatGPT?'

We pondered a lot about which AI to choose to converse naturally with users and provide personalized experiences. In the process, we chose OpenAI's ChatGPT. This language model has the ability to continue conversations on a variety of topics and contexts with users. Therefore, it was able to respond to specific user requests and provide an experience that reflects individual needs.


3. The reason for the design choice, 'why did we use Tailwind CSS?'

The design that forms the core of user experience, we chose Tailwind CSS. Why, you may ask?

Tailwind CSS is a utility-first CSS framework. This means it’s possible to define and apply your own styles directly, which is incredibly important for detailed user experience design.

Moreover, Tailwind CSS makes responsive design easy to implement. The combination of custom design and utility classes greatly aided in iterating designs quickly.

Our team created highly reusable components, working efficiently. All of this became a core competence for providing users with the best experience.

So, the reason we chose Tailwind CSS was for its flexibility, which allows us to finely design user experiences and work efficiently. For this reason, Tailwind CSS has become an important tool for our UX team.


4. The chosen tech stack, 'why did we choose React, Next.js, and OpenStream?'

I'd like to talk to you today about why we chose React, Next.js, and OpenStream. These three technologies played key roles while developing our chatbot service. Let’s take a closer look at how they impacted the UX.

Firstly, React is a JavaScript library focused on creating user interfaces. Its charm lies in enabling component-based development, enhancing UI reusability, and maintainability, which are crucial for the development of chatbot services. Consistent UX is important, especially in services like chatbots that continuously interact with users.

Next, Next.js is a framework built on top of React, facilitating features like server-side rendering (SSR) and static site generation (SSG) easily. Such functionalities help the chatbot react instantly to users’ queries, ultimately providing better experiences.

Lastly, OpenStream was utilized for the efficient transmission of data in real-time. It played a significant role in enabling smooth, real-time conversations between the chatbot and the user. This technology is necessary for responding immediately to user questions while maintaining data efficiency.

Using React, Next.js, and OpenStream in this manner was an ideal method for providing a user-centered chatbot service. Our choice of these technologies is a crucial foundation that supports the outstanding UX of the service. Through such technological choices, our team has realized we can provide better experiences to users while developing services efficiently. This very experience motivates us to continuously explore and select technologies to create better services.


5. A new experience, meeting with the chatbot

Since the introduction of chatbots, I'd like to explain to the curious planners, designers, and developers how user experience has changed. Users are now able to get the information they need immediately, thanks to ChatGPT's understanding and responsiveness.

Continuously learning and evolving through feedback, the chatbot becomes smarter with data obtained from users' questions and conversations. As a result, user satisfaction has greatly improved.

The introduction of chatbots has indeed added a new dimension to user experience. Through such changes, we’ve come closer to our users, understanding their needs more finely and providing better services. Hence, encountering chatbots was also a new experience for us, taking our UX to the next level.


6. Towards the future: LangChain technology and personalized services

We've discussed how the encounter with chatbots has revolutionized user experience. But the story doesn't end here; chatbot technology continues to evolve and enrich the user experience further.

Our team is now exploring the integration of 'LangChain' technology to take chatbots to the next level. This technology has the capability to understand users' language more precisely and produce appropriate responses. With it, chatbots can go beyond answering simple questions to accurately understanding and solving users' problems.

Additionally, we are developing the chatbot to offer personalized services. We’re working on a feature that recommends optimal routes for GCOO’s electric scooters or e-bikes, based on the user's current location and preferences. This allows users to enrich their own experiences even further.

These advances are a testament to the progress GCOO and our chatbots are making towards the future. Through these changes, GCOO is striving to provide a better experience to users. This journey allows planners, designers, and developers to grow together, continually seeking and researching ways to provide better UX. And I, too, am continuously growing while fulfilling my role in this process.


Conclusion: The growth story of GCOO's UX team blossomed by chatbot implementation

The introduction of chatbots was certainly a tremendous challenge for the GCOO UX team. From learning new technologies to exploring various ways to enhance customer experience, these processes have been crucial for our team's growth. This challenge taught us how to prioritize user experience in every aspect of planning, design, and development.

Thus, the chatbot implementation project has grown to mean more than just a project for us. It became a prime example of how we adopted a user-centered problem-solving approach and provided better experiences to users through it.

I am pleased to share why we introduced chatbots, the tools and technologies we used, and the considerations we had throughout the process. Sharing our story with you is in itself an act of 'communication,' which our UX team values greatly.

GCOO's UX team will keep exploring and taking on challenges to center users more and provide better experiences. In this journey, our team will grow further and contribute to creating better products and services.

Going through all these processes has brought great personal fulfillment as I've grown a lot. I wanted to share this with you and end my writing with my modest experience. All of it is the story I was eager to share with you and what I consider my proudest and somewhat 'secret' achievement.
