GBike (CEO Jong-su Yoon), the operator of South Korea's leading personal mobility (PM) sharing service platform ‘GCOO’, announced on the 4th that it has signed a business agreement with the Army's 2291st Unit, located in Incheon, to use PM for military operations and training.
This agreement is the second collaboration case with a military unit by GBike, following a successful partnership with the 2nd Battalion of the 1970th Unit in Daejeon last year. In particular, this time the collaboration scope has been significantly expanded to a division scale, with a focus on strengthening military operations and civil-military cooperation.
The signing ceremony was held in the unit's conference room, attended by Major General Kwang-seop Lee of the 2291st Unit, CEO Jong-su Yoon of GCOO, and Strategy Director Gu-seong Jeong.
Through this agreement, GBike will provide mobile equipment such as electric bicycles and electric scooters, which can be used in key military training and actual operations, even in extreme cold conditions. The goal is to achieve rapid deployment and enhanced mobility in operations areas, particularly enabling effective responses in densely populated urban areas where vehicle access is difficult.
This agreement is anticipated to maximize efficiency in operation zones by providing an innovative approach to training new generation soldiers for modern urban area operations. By leveraging GCOO’s mobile equipment, soldiers can move agilely through difficult terrains, overcoming geographical constraints like crowded areas or narrow alleys.
Major General Kwang-seop Lee of the 2291st Unit stated, “This agreement will improve the division's operational capabilities tailored to urban area operation environments,” adding, “Utilizing electric bicycles and electric scooters as mobility tools in urban areas will enhance our urban area operational capabilities.”
CEO Jong-su Yoon of GBike expressed, “I feel a sense of pride in being able to support national security and public safety through large-scale cooperation at the division level,” and added, “I expect that training using personal transportation vehicles will help new generation soldiers enhance their response capabilities to modern urban area operations. We will do our utmost to protect the safety of the community and the nation through close cooperation with the military in the future.”
