Cloud delivery platform company Bespin Global announced on the 16th that it has signed a business agreement with micro-mobility tech company GCOO to promote the 'GreenBike with Vietnam' project, a public electric bicycle business for medium-sized cities in Vietnam.

GreenBike with Vietnam is based on the 'Smart City Data Integration Management Platform (THT-BESPIN SMART CITY HUB)' being jointly developed and operated by the Vietnamese local corporation of Bespin Global and THT Development, a local corporation of Daewoo Construction. GCOO's micro-mobility sharing service will be incorporated, and it aims to localize for Vietnam by combining with the payment system of Vietnam’s fintech unicorn company MoMo.

According to the agreement, Bespin Global and GCOO will continuously develop a mid-to-long-term cooperative model for the development of Vietnam's smart cities and smart mobility industries, establish a solid support system by sharing data, and mutually assist each other. Later, they plan to standardize the business model in major central cities of Vietnam, such as Da Nang, and then expand their business to about 60 medium-sized cities in Vietnam with a population of less than one million.

Bespin Global will integrate GCOO's existing smart mobility solution and Battery Swapping Station (BSS) service into its smart city projects currently underway locally, and in the future, it plans to support GCOO's Southeast Asian micro-mobility project based on Bespin Global's large user base. GCOO is planning and executing a technology verification (PoC) work during the operation of smart city mobility services.

GCOO is currently operating the micro-mobility sharing service 'GCOO' in major cities in Korea, the United States, and Thailand, and plans to start services in Vietnam and Guam soon. Its cumulative sales so far amount to 100 billion won, and it has attracted investment from Strong Ventures, Simax, SBI Investment, Premier Partners, Yuanta Investment, and Mirae Asset. It recorded sales of 33.5 billion won in 2021, ranking first in Asia, and achieved its largest performance for the second consecutive year with 53 billion won, a 60% growth from the previous year.

Bespin Global Vietnam is focusing on expanding its data-based smart city business centered around the Smart City Data Integration Management Platform. The platform is an open-type smart city platform jointly developed and managed by Bespin Global Vietnam and THT Development. It is being utilized for the operation and management of Daewoo Construction's Starlake New Town in Hanoi, Vietnam, and from this year, it will also be applied to the operation of major smart cities throughout Vietnam.

The CEO of GCOO, Yoon Jong-su, explained, "With the successful operation of micro-mobility sharing services in Korea, Thailand, and Southeast Asia, we have been changing urban living patterns to be more environmentally friendly. The manager of Bespin Global Vietnam, Kim Tae-ho, stated, "Hue City has been promoted to one of the six central metropolitan cities last year and will soon complete the construction of an international airport terminal, showing the fastest growth rate in Vietnam. Through this agreement, we are now able to provide GCOO's mobility service to foreign tourists visiting Hue and Da Nang and Vietnamese youth who are sensitive to trends, thereby further strengthening the competitiveness of our smart city hub platform business. Bespin Global will continue to lead the global expansion of startups by establishing a genuine smart city and creating various business models through cooperation with digital native startups."
