Gcooter, the shared electric scooter service operated by GBike, represented by CEO Yoon Jong-soo, announced on the 26th that it was awarded the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Award (Grand Prize) in the 'Great Leap Forward Contest' for small and medium-sized enterprises and startups, focusing on commercialization and job creation achievements, hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and supervised by the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Science and Technology Promotion Agency.

This contest, designed to uncover cases of corporate growth and job creation through technological development, targeted small and medium-sized enterprises and startups in the land, infrastructure and transport sector with commercialization and new employment achievements in the past year (August 1, 2020 - July 31, 2021).

The awards were conferred to a total of seven companies, including ▲one company for the Grand Prize (Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Award), ▲two companies for the Excellence Awards (President of the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Science and Technology Promotion Agency Award), and ▲four companies for the Encouragement Awards (President of the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Science and Technology Promotion Agency Award).

The evaluation categories were job creation and commercialization performance, and Gcooter was highly recognized for its continuous efforts toward various job creation initiatives including ▲revenue performances relative to the number of employees, ▲number of new hires, ▲full-time conversion rate, ▲local job creation, and ▲senior job creation.

In fact, GCOO Scooter has hired local talents as it operates its shared mobility service directly in most regions nationwide, and has newly recruited about 190 full-time employees since August 2020 in the last year. It has also contributed to creating jobs for the elderly through its senior internship program 'Silver Stars'.

CEO Yoon Jong-soo of Gcooter said, "It seems that a series of processes aimed at creating synergy through the harmonious interaction of businesses and society in a better environment, rather than chasing immediate profits, have resulted in the grand prize at this contest," and expressed his award sentiments as, "Continuing to focus on GBike's competitive technology and management philosophy, we will constantly ponder and work hard to increase our social value as a company."
