G-Bike, led by CEO Jong-Soo Yoon, has announced on the 16th that it has launched an electric bicycle sharing service following its existing electric scooters, operating the personal mobility (PM) sharing service platform 'GCOO'.

GCOO's electric bicycles began service this month in areas such as Sejong Special Self-Governing City and Incheon Metropolitan City, with upcoming launches in Gwangju Metropolitan City, Daegu Metropolitan City, and others. The service area is expected to expand nationwide thereafter.

In launching the new electric bicycles, GCOO has actively incorporated know-how accumulated over approximately four years of operating and developing electric scooters. They have made efforts to significantly reduce the time it takes for users to find a device by equipping it with the latest GPS technology and have ensured a more comfortable ride even on uphill roads with upgraded motors and batteries. In addition, they increased the device's safety during rainy conditions by achieving an IPX7 waterproof rating, and aimed to improve user convenience by equipping all devices with mobile phone holders and baskets.

The unlocking fee is the same as electric scooters, starting at a minimum of 600 won, with a more affordable per-minute fare. For the per-minute fare, it is available at 150 won per minute. For the distance-priority fare system, first launched in the industry by GCOO on the 1st, it can be used at a fare of 60 won per 100 meters + 30 won per minute. Additionally, a transfer discount that waives the unlocking fee for re-rides within 12 hours is applied regardless of the type of model, whether it’s scooters or bicycles.

Meanwhile, GCOO is running a free ride promotion for new members to celebrate the launch of their electric bicycles. During the event period, first-time GCOO customers will receive a coupon code for 3 free rides.

CEO Jong-Soo Yoon of GCOO stated, "By expanding the options from scooters to bicycles, we aimed to meet the various transportation needs suitable for different situations and purposes.” He also added, “As the distance-priority fare system, introduced earlier this month, has been chosen by about 30% of users within just 10 days of its launch, we hope that the electric bicycles will become a new alternative for short-distance travel." He emphasized his commitment to providing safe and innovative mobility services in pursuit of GCOO's vision of PM that can be enjoyed by both grandfathers and granddaughters together.
