G-Bike, which operates the Personal Mobility (PM) sharing platform 'GCOO', has stepped up to support the underprivileged, including expanding employment for the disabled, in honor of the April 20th Day of Persons with Disabilities.
G-Bike has signed a 'Mutual Cooperation Agreement for Employment Support Services for the Disabled' with the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled Gyeonggi Northern Office and the Goyang Comprehensive Welfare Center for People with Disabilities on the 22nd. The purpose is to enhance the employment capacity of people with disabilities and to activate local employment, ultimately increasing their participation in social activities.
Currently, at G-Bike, about ten disabled workers are employed in various positions including administrative assistants, maintenance assistants, and field operation support staff, and with this agreement, they plan to expand job opportunities for people with disabilities. Using the nation's largest fleet of shared electric bicycles and electric scooters, they intend to create numerous jobs, including device management and operation, thereby supporting stable employment and social participation for people with disabilities.
The Goyang Comprehensive Welfare Center for People with Disabilities forms a network between companies and job seekers, providing customized training necessary for the job. The Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled Gyeonggi Northern Office plans to work on increasing their employment and improving the employment environment through institutional and financial support.
Jung Guseong, director of G-Bike who attended the agreement ceremony, stated, "With this agreement, we expect to expand work opportunities for disabled persons through our GCOO services," and added, "We will continue to cooperate with various organizations and strive for social contributions in the future."
Meanwhile, G-Bike continues to make efforts to activate the social activities of the underprivileged in connection with the local community. In 2021, as part of creating jobs for the elderly, they launched 'GCOO Silver Stars', and in 2023, in cooperation with the Korea Elderly Employment Promotion Agency, they provided employment opportunities to about 60 seniors.
