To all of you climbing the insurmountable mountain of UX design~!
What concerns do you have in practice?
Our team members are working hard to create an environment that supports even inexperienced junior designers to the end.
We ponder over design confidence, prototyping, the right blend of reference designs and customized UX designs, tone and manner, ways to handle feedback, and the importance of collaboration. In doing so, we are solving problems through continuous learning and communication with team members. Let me introduce you to those solutions.
Designer's Persuasion Skills
We exist to design. However, there's something as important as design: persuasion skills. The reason we design is to captivate people's eyes and hearts, and therefore, a designer must be able to present their work persuasively. To do this, it's essential to find confidence in your work and compelling reasons for it. Also, thinking from the perspective of others and forming empathy is crucial. Persuasion skills play a significant role in enhancing the value of design.
The Importance of Prototyping
Design requires imagination and creativity. But imagination alone is not enough. What should we do then? It's crucial to turn imagination into realistic design through prototyping. This allows us to receive actual user feedback and develop better designs. Through prototyping, we can concretize design ideas and check their feasibility. Designers must have the imagination and the ability to turn it into reality.
Confidence in Design Decisions
Designers must have confidence in their design decisions. Design is an art, which is why there are no objective standards. However, decisions must be made to complete a design. At this point, decisions should be based on one’s own emotions and experiences. Of course, it's necessary to receive and consider feedback. Still, when making decisions, you need to trust your own feelings. Designers should have confidence in their design decisions, believe in themselves, and be able to drive them forward.
The Right Balance of Reference Design and Customized UX Design
Reference designs play a very important role in the design process. However, relying too much on reference designs can result in a failure to provide in-house suitable UX designs. Customized UX design means designing according to the actual users' needs and contexts of our service. Designers should create customized UX designs while referring to reference designs, considering users' needs and situations. Striking the right balance between reference design and customized UX design is paramount.
Tone and Manner
Tone and manner are very important in design. Tone and manner refer to the atmosphere and feeling a design conveys. Designers should set the desired tone and manner in advance and reflect it in their design. For instance, if you want to convey a professional and trustworthy image, you should choose a simple and clean design. Conversely, if you want to deliver a casual vibe, choose a bright and lively design. Properly setting the tone and manner allows users to better accept the message conveyed by the design.
Handling Feedback
Feedback is crucial during the design process. It's important not to take feedback personally and get hurt. Designers should objectively accept feedback and identify areas for improvement. When receiving feedback, it should not be taken personally. Designers should understand the needs of users and strive to reflect them. When receiving feedback, one should stay focused and proceed in a direction that analyzes and improves upon the feedback. Feedback is an opportunity to improve the design. Designers should embrace it positively and advance the design accordingly.
The Importance of Collaboration
Collaboration plays a critical role in design. On any project, designers, developers, marketers, and others work together. In such cases, designers must be able to collaborate smoothly with other roles. Designers need to explain their design objectively and be receptive to others' opinions. Moreover, to efficiently manage a project, designers must plan schedules and communicate systematically with other roles. Collaboration is essential to enhance the quality of the design output.
