Hello, this is GCOO.
Last time, we conducted an in-house interview about safety!
This time, we would like to share the content of the interview with you all!
The second interview features the problem solver of G-Bike, Gon from the Technology Planning Team!!
Q1. Could you please introduce yourself?
A. Hello, I'm Gon from the Technology Planning Team.
I joined in 2021 and have been working in the team responsible for offering more safe and convenient services
through various technological supports for G-Bike.
Q2. What does the Technology Planning Team do?
A. The Technology Planning Team takes on the role of a problem solver by managing the technical issues of scooters, equipment and component management, and administrator app management.
We resolve issues arising in the field through communication with service departments, development teams, and manufacturers.
1. Technical issue management of scooters
We are constantly identifying problems and seeking solutions with manufacturers or development teams,
inspecting, repairing, and deploying the optimum manuals.
We support standardizing service levels across national operation camps through this effort.
2. Device and component management
We purchase and manage over 40,000 devices and components nationwide and distribute them to various operation camps.
If mechanical defects or areas in need of improvement are identified during operations,
we consult with the manufacturers for quality enhancement and develop upgrades and components.
3. Administrator app management
At GCOO, there is an administrator application called 'Ground'.
Ground is mainly used by the field operation teams.
It features various functions, such as tracking device battery life, usage time, collection and deployment, and checking inspection status.
The Technology Planning Team is responsible for the development and maintenance of Ground,
ensuring continuous improvements to facilitate safer riding experiences for our customers.

Q3. The work of the Technology Planning Team seems deeply connected to customer safety.
Is there any ongoing work or services related to customer safety?
A. Yes, our department plays a major part in ensuring customer safety. Haha
Customer safety is something we constantly think about, leading to numerous idea brainstorming sessions.
Currently, there are two main services in progress, to name a few:
1. Handling improper parking
Illegally parked scooters on roads or sidewalks can be a hazard to pedestrians and drivers alike.
Hence, any such improperly parked device is immediately collected and redeployed in a safe area.
We also share an improper parking dashboard.
This dashboard is a monthly report including statistics on the areas prone to improper parking, the types, and reports made.
We use it to understand the pattern of improper parking incidents
and as a source for campaigns to improve the public's perception of shared scooters.
2. Regular inspection
Due to the nature of 'shared' scooters, issues like defects and losses are frequent, so we operate dedicated repair teams.
For instance, we conduct periodic inspections for scooter frame damage.
In addition to that, GCOO applies a malfunction management system and
each camp's mechanics concurrently perform checks and repairs, sharing the information across the company.
Q3. It’s clear that your team works for the safety of riders, pedestrians, and drivers alike!
Is there a final message you’d like to share?
A. We’re always considering how to provide our customers with the 'most convenient and safe scooters.' However, it is ultimately the customer themselves who use the devices.
No matter how convenient and safe a device is, without the rider’s awareness of safety, it can be more dangerous than any other means of transportation.
We hope that more riders will ride with an awareness of PM safety. We will also strive to provide better devices and services.
Gon’s last words are quite striking, I believe.
I too think that customers’ awareness of safety is essential for safe riding.
Let’s all work together towards safer riding practices~
This concludes our interview with Gon.
Thank you!
