The number one personal mobility (PM) sharing service platform in Korea, operated by 'GBike' (CEO Jongsoo Yoon), held a 'Track Day' using personal mobility devices such as universally developed batteries, electric bicycles, electric scooters, and electric motorcycles.
On September 9th, GBike conducted a track day at the Yeonggwang branch of the Korea Automotive Technology Institute located in Yeonggwang-gun, Jeonnam. The event was for verifying the performance of electric bicycles, electric scooters, and electric motorcycles equipped with the 'PM universal battery.' All devices, including the batteries, were developed directly by GBike.
The universal batteries and devices showcased on this track day are foundational products for the BSS (Battery Swapping Station) system that GBike has been preparing. They will soon be available in the market. GBike has been preparing for a BSS business, an infrastructure facility allowing battery swaps anywhere, and is accelerating efforts to launch the service within the year following the release of prototypes in the first half.
On this day, GBike also demonstrated the performance test of an electric scooter equipped with a supercapacitor battery. Unlike lithium batteries, the supercapacitor battery generates electricity via a physical transfer mechanism, enabling fast charging without the risks of heat and fire, thus allowing transportation on all travel modes, including aircraft. Through this test, the potential to replace lithium batteries, which have relatively higher fire risks, with a safer electric mobility ecosystem was confirmed.
CEO Jongsoo Yoon of GBike stated, "Through this track day, we were able to reconfirm the versatility of our developed batteries and the driving stability of personal mobility devices." He further added, "Soon, we will launch an energy infrastructure service encapsulating GBike's technology, and by establishing an ecosystem encompassing personal mobility devices and electric motorcycles based on universal batteries for the first time worldwide, we will do our utmost to combat the climate crisis while making everyday transportation more convenient."
