GBike, represented by CEO Jong-Soo Yoon, which operates the personal mobility (PM) sharing platform GCOO, announced on the 25th that they have entered into a strategic partnership with the Daejeon Central Police Station (chief Gil Jae-Sik) to maintain community safety.
This agreement aims to ensure the safety of Daejeon's central district by enhancing crime prevention functions, and it's the second civil-police partnership agreement to be established following one with the Seoul Gangseo Police Station last year, establishing a cooperative system necessary for police security activities.
The police are unfolding special security actions and reorganizing to resolve public anxiety over consecutive serious crimes, and thereby secure safety. As part of this effort, the Daejeon Central Police Station is promoting a civil-police cooperation model, focusing more on preventing crime by maximizing on-site response capabilities.
According to this business agreement, GCOO will support the Daejeon Central Police Station with electric bicycles and electric scooters needed for patrol duties and other security activities. GCOO's devices are expected to complement the vulnerabilities of foot patrols, enable access to areas difficult for patrol vehicles and movement in crime-prone areas, thus contributing to the efficiency of the rapidly increasing police security tasks and resolving blind spots in security.
Furthermore, as GCOO operates on the largest scale in Daejeon, it holds the potential for high effectiveness as it is readily available for police needs anytime, anywhere.
Chief Gil Jae-Sik of the Daejeon Central Police Station stated, "We are fully committed to crime prevention to preserve the peaceful daily lives of residents," and added, "We also plan to continuously develop safety projects suited to regional characteristics and pursue proactive security activities, striving to build a denser community safety net."
CEO Jong-Soo Yoon of JBike expressed, "I am pleased that GCOO's service can be utilized not just as a mode of transportation but as a tool for achieving the public good of community crime prevention," and stated, "We will give our unwavering support and cooperation so that GCOO can navigate crime blind spots and proactively remove factors of unease for residents."
